MANANTHAVADY: In a tragic incident, an adivasi woman was killed in an attack by a tiger. The dead is Radha, wife of Achappan, a temporary watcher of the forest department. Reports said the incident happened Friday morning after 10 am near Priyadarshini Estate at Pancharakolly in Mananthavady. The incident happened at a private person's coffee plantation near the forest.

Radha had gone to pluck coffee beans. Achappan dropped her near the coffee plantation on his bike. The tiger attacked Radha while she was plucking the beans. She was dragged for about a hundred meters. The body was half-eaten. The body will be taken to the hospital for postmortem.

Minister O R Kelu reached the spot. The locals blocked the minister. Forest Department officials are examining the spot. There were no reports on the presence of a tiger in the area in the past few days. So, the incident was completely unexpected, said district panchayat president Shamshad Marakkar.

The tiger, which had been terrorizing the Amarakuni area in Pulpally for several days, was trapped in the forest department's cage the other day. An eight-year-old female tiger was trapped in the cage set up by the forest department in Thoopra. The tiger suffered injuries in its hand.

The tiger, which entered the residential area, was trapped in the cage after ten days. The forest department was in search of the tiger until late at night every day. The tiger first caught a goat from Amarakuni. Later, on alternate days, the tiger caught nearly five goats from places adjacent to this area. The forest department changed the cage and cameras every day, but the result was disappointing. Finally, it was trapped in the cage in Thoopra.
