NEW DELHI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed Patanjali Foods to recall a batch of their chilli powder launched in the market. The FSSAI has asked for a recall of a special batch (AJD2400012) released by Patanjali. The information was released by PTI. The reason for the new move is that the existing food safety standards were violated. The inspection found that the chilli powder contained toxic substances and other impurities.

Compliance with food safety regulations is important to maintain consumer trust and product quality. FSSAI has made it clear that the action is in this regard. Patanjali, headed by Baba Ramdev, was founded in 1986. Patanjali Foods is presently one of the companies that brings high-quality food products to the markets in India. In September itself, Patanjali Foods' profit increased by 21 percent to Rs 308.97 crore. The company’s profit was Rs 254.53 crore in the previous year. The total revenue in the second quarter of this financial year rose to Rs 8,198.52 crore from Rs 7,845.79 crore.

Meantime, several allegations were levelled against Patanjali products. A consumer complaint had sparked discussions after it alleged that the Ayurvedic milk powder ‘Divya Manjan’, which was launched under the name Patanjali Vegetarian, contained fish extract.
