THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the opposition V D Satheesan lambasted the government for its offhand approach to protecting people living in hilly regions from wild animal attacks. The Congress leader accused the LDF government of doing little to nothing in the last three years to alleviate the concerns of wild animal attacks. He was sharing with the media the objectives of the upcoming congress campaign in the hilly terrains of the state.

"Over 60,000 wildlife attacks have taken place in Kerala in the last seven years. The government remains heedless. More than a thousand people died. More than 5000 cattle were killed. There was crop damage worth crores of rupees. The government has been doing nothing for the past three years. The central government is also culpable for not doing anything effective despite this high death rate. Congress has clear objectives when it comes to protecting people in hilly areas. It will be implemented." said the opposition leader.

Meanwhile, the UDF's ‘Malayora Jatha’ led by VD Satheesan will begin today at Kannur Karuvanchal. AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal MP will inaugurate the yatra at 4 pm. UDF through this campaign demands the central government to intervene in the buffer zone issue while also addressing the wild animal attacks and the poor fate of farmers in the region.
