PALAKKAD: A youth sustained serious injuries after being attacked by a wild elephant in Palakkad. The injured youth is Satheesan (22), the son of Attappadi native Sundari. The incident took place in the Thondai region along the Tamil Nadu border on Thursday. Satheesan, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Coimbatore. The incident took place while Satheesan was returning home on his scooter after attending a funeral.

The attack occurred around 8 PM. After overturning the scooter with its trunk, the wild elephant gored the youth in the stomach with its tusks and flung him a distance away. The scooter was also impaled on its tusks and thrown aside. The youth remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
