NEW DELHI: Addressing the nation ahead of Republic Day, President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that the 'One Nation, One Election' initiative would ensure consistency in governance. The President also highlighted welfare initiatives, efforts to combat climate change, and reforms aimed at redefining governance in her speech.

"Implementing the 'One Nation, One Election' plan can foster consistency in governance, prevent policy paralysis, and reduce financial burden to an extent. Bold and visionary economic reforms will sustain this trend of progress in the years to come. This government has redefined the concept of welfare, transforming basic needs into rights. We have recently witnessed collective efforts to shift away from colonial mindsets. On the global stage, India has carved a distinct place for itself in development," the President noted.

The President also praised India's achievements in the Olympics and Paralympics, commending the nation's remarkable advancements in sports. She lauded D Gukesh, who became the youngest world chess champion, for his extraordinary accomplishment. Highlighting the significance of the Constitution, the President remarked that it lays the foundation for India's shared identity and unites the nation as one family.
