KANJIKODE: A farmer was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack in Walayar. Vadhyarchalla Ratnam's son Vijayan (41) was injured. The attack occurred while he was trying to drive away a herd of wild elephants that had entered the farm this morning. When the elephant came towards Vijayan in a fit of rage, his father ran away. When Vijayan tried to run away after standing still, the elephant kicked him down. Hearing the commotion, the villagers who were guarding the farm rushed to the spot and burst crackers, and the elephants ran back. Vijayan was seriously injured in his hip and neck and was first admitted to the Palakkad District Hospital and later to the Thrissur Medical College.
