THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP is appointing state leaders to the posts of district presidents to increase organizational capacity and create a new impetus. BJP had divided the 14 revenue districts of Kerala into 30 organizational districts. Thirty presidents will be officially announced on Monday.
According to the list approved by the Centre, BJP national council member and senior leader Karamana Jayan will be the Thiruvananthapuram Central District President. State Secretary Prakash Babu will be the president in Kozhikode Town and state spokesperson Sandeep Vachaspati will be the president in Alappuzha. Yuva Morcha state president Praful Krishnan will be the president in Kozhikode North.
Mahila Morcha state president Nivedita Subramanian will be the president in Thrissur West and Mahila Morcha national committee member ML Ashwini will be the president in Kasaragod. Raji Prasad will be the president in Kollam East and Deepa Puzhakkal in Malappuram, making a total of four women in these positions.
VA Suraj will continue in Pathanamthitta. Devadas will be the president in Kozhikode Rural and Adv Binoy will be the president in Alappuzha North. There are two from the SC category. In Thrissur, three people including Justin are from the Christian category. The district leaders themselves will be the presidents in the remaining districts.
The state leadership had submitted the list of candidates to the centre. The central leadership selected one from this and returned the list today. The official announcement will be made on Monday after the nominations for the post of president are submitted tomorrow and the process is completed. Narayanan Namboothiri is the returning officer.
Three presidents each in five districts
The districts except Pathanamthitta, Wayanad and Kasaragod have been divided. Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode have been divided into three organizational districts. Each of the remaining districts has two organizational districts.
