KALPETTA: It is reported that the order declaring the tiger in Pancharakolly, Wayanad as a man-eating tiger was issued following the intervention of the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister took a strong stand that there should be immediate intervention in the issue. The Chief Minister directed that the Forest Act should not be used to delay action and that there should be no danger to people's lives. The Chief Minister informed Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran and the Chief Secretary about this even before the high-level meeting. The Chief Secretary then informed the Forest Minister and the Secretary that intervention would be taken under the Disaster Management Act. With this, the Forest Department declared the tiger as a man-eating tiger.

Meanwhile, Minister A.K. Saseendran said that the incident in which a woman was killed in the attack of a man-eating tiger in Wayanad was a tragedy. "Public anger is natural. This is not a matter of just one house, but a matter of the people," the Minister told the media. He was responding after visiting Radha's family. The Minister also pointed out that he had said that the protest led by the opposition leader was politically motivated. "The order to shoot the tiger was issued on the instructions of the Chief Minister. The order to shoot it was issued after seeking the opinion of other officials. We will monitor whether the promises made have been implemented," the minister said.
