LUCKNOW: An Indian youth married a Greek woman at the Mahakumbh Mela at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Penelope from Greece and Siddharth exchanged garlands at the holy land. The bride’s mother and other relatives witnessed the function.
The kanyadaan was done by Swami Yatindranand Giri, Mahamandaleshwar of the Juna Akhara, along with the bride's mother and other relatives. The wedding ceremony, Agnifera (circling around the fire), was also performed at the Kumbh Mela. Penelope had embraced the traditions of Sanatan Dharma years ago. Yathindranand Giri also said that Siddharth had visited many countries to promote yoga and Sanatan Dharma.
Penelope shared that the experience of getting married during the Kumbh Mela was magical beyond words. 'I got a different perspective through spirituality. I have never attended an Indian wedding before. So, everything was new to me. I got married in a spiritual way,' Penelope added.
Siddharth said they decided to get married in the most authentic way at a holy place. He said Mahakumbh Mela is the best place in the universe for that, as it is a place where all kinds of divinity and pilgrimage come together. The newlyweds have decided to remain in Prayagraj until the Mahakumbh Mela ends. They also revealed that they will take the holy dip on January 29th.
