THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has a clear vision for Kerala. The Governor's praise came while the Chief Minister was on the stage.
The Governor was addressing the parade after hoisting the national flag at the Thiruvananthapuram Central Stadium on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day. "It is a matter of pride that Kerala has achieved complete literacy. Kerala is number one in many indicators in the country. We should be able to move forward together through dialogue and cooperation. A developed India is not possible without a developed Kerala," the Governor said. The Governor congratulated the Malayalis who won the Padma awards.
The Governor received salute at the parade. The Air Force showered flowers from helicopters. There were elaborate celebrations in various parts of the state. Major J Ajander, 6th Battalion, Garhwal Rifles Regiment of the Army, was the parade commander. Flight Lieutenant Noor Ahmed Sheikh of the Southern Air Command unit of the Air Force was the second in command. Various service branches also participated.
Ministers V Sivankutty, GR Anil, Mayor Arya Rajendran, AA Rahim MP, MLAs Kadakampally Surendran, VK Prashanth, Chief Secretary Saradha Muraleedharan, Police Chief Sheikh Darvesh Sahib, Collector Anukumari and other high-ranking officials were also present.
