PALAKKAD: Chenthamara, the accused in the Nenmara twin murder case is still at large. The investigation will be expanded today with the help of locals in Pothundy and Nelliyampathy areas, where the suspect was seen after the murder. Four teams with a total of seven members are inspecting the area under the leadership of Alathur DySP.
The police are not ruling out the chances of the accused attempting suicide, since a half-used poison bottle was recovered from his residence. After killing Sudhakaran's wife Sajitha in 2019, Chenthamara went into hiding akin to the present scenario. However, after a few days, he surrendered before officials unable to survive hunger. The police are expecting Chenthamara to come out of hiding in a similar manner.
Sudhakaran (56), and his mother Lakshmi (78), natives of Pothundy Boyan colony were hacked to death with a machete by Chenthamara on Monday. At the same time, Sudhakaran's children Athulya and Akhila alleged failure on the part of the police. They blamed the officials for taking the case lightly even after the family complained to them a few days back.
After the postmortem on Tuesday, the two dead bodies will be taken to Sudhakaran’s sister's house, and from there to Vakav crematorium in Palakkad for final rites rituals.
