KOCHI: A case was filed against award-winning film director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan on the complaint of an actress alleging that the director made remarks insulting womanhood. Elamakkara police registered a case over the complaint.
Sanal Kumar had shared many posts on social media tagging the complainant actress. Voice messages were also released in the name of the actress. With the targeting going beyond bounds, the actress approached the police for respite. Officials concluded that the film director made the social media posts from abroad, mostly from the USA.
Earlier, the police registered a case on the complaint of the actress and arrested Sanal Kumar from Thiruvananthapuram. Later, the Aluva First Class Judicial Magistrate Court granted him bail. In 2022, the actress complained to the police about Sanal Kumar following her and making insulting remarks for denying his love proposal.
SANAL:
“I saw the news that a case has been registered against me again at the Elamakkara police station for insulting womanhood. The false case registered against me three years back has not reached anywhere. I am concerned about the actress and made the public aware that her life was in danger. This is an attempt to prevent the public from discussing the audio tapes I posted on social media. I don't fear the legal hurdles or the intimidation tactics. I have only spilled the truth and I know it. I only fear about the actress' life. Nothing else.
I can only hope that the public takes conscience of the issue and protects her. I request media to take note of the case and bring it to the public’s attention.”
