ALAPPUZHA: Anil Onampally, the primary witness in the Bhaskara Karanavar murder case and a relative of Bhaskara Karanavar, said he was upset about Sherin, the convict in the murder case, being released from jail. "Why did Sherin get so many paroles? What is the reason for her getting so many concessions? Why is the government giving Sherin such priority?" Anil asked.
"A house was orphaned. Sherin should live well at least from now just because she has a child. She should not commit another murder," Anil said.
Sherin is being released after serving a life sentence. The decision to grant Sherin a remission of her sentence was made at a cabinet meeting. The release comes after she completed 14 years of her sentence. Bhaskara Karanavarof Karanavar Villa, who was also Sherin's father-in-law, was murdered on November 7, 2009. In the case, daughter-in-law Sherin was the first accused and Sherin's lovers were the other accused.
The decision to grant a remission of the sentence was taken after Sherin's earlier complaint was also considered in the context of the completion of her sentence. The decision was taken considering the consideration of her being a woman. Sherin has a child outside. The government's decision was based on the recommendations of the Prison Advisory Committee after considering many such factors.
