KOCHI: A Ferrari, a luxury sports car, met with an accident in Kalamassery. The accident took place on Kalamassery Medical College Road. The car lost control while trying to overtake another vehicle and crashed into a tree. It is reported that no one was injured in the accident and the vehicle was not heavily damaged.

The accident involved a Ferrari mid-engine sports car, the 488 GTB. The company launched this car from 2015 to 2019. The on-road price of this vehicle at the time of its launch was approximately five crore rupees. The vehicle is powered by a 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The car has a top speed of 330 kmph. This vehicle came as a replacement for Ferrari's 458.

A few days ago, a luxury car that was running had broke down and burned down. The accident took place on the CUSAT campus. The Jaguar car of a Palakkad native was burnt down. The accident occurred when the car was being taken back after repairs from a workshop in Unichira.

The driver got out and opened the bonnet to check when the car broke down. Fire and smoke stated to rise by then. Seeing this, students from the nearby School of Management Studies tried to put out the fire but were unsuccessful. By the time fire and rescue personnel from Thrikkakara and Eloor arrived, the vehicle was completely burnt out.

Last year, in August, two Mercedes-Benz cars had lost control during a test drive and collided, causing an accident. Another car, worth crores, was also involved. Five people, including a woman, in the cars miraculously escaped. A Mercedes-Benz AMG SL 55 Roadster, AMG GT 63SE cars and a Hyundai Accent car were involved in the accident.
