THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Gold prices in the state have risen sharply today, setting a new record for gold prices. The price of one sovereign of gold has increased by Rs 680 to reach Rs 60,760. For the past two days, gold prices had declined slightly, bringing some relief to buyers.
The price had dropped by Rs 360 over two days. However, today saw a sudden spike in prices. Based on today's rates, purchasing one sovereign of gold, including GST and making charges, would cost over Rs 65,000. The rise in global gold prices is the main reason behind this increase, and further price hikes are likely.
Today, the price of gold per gram has increased by Rs 85. The current market price of one gram of 22-carat gold is Rs 7,595. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold prices have risen by Rs 75 per gram, bringing the market price to Rs 6,275 per gram. The lowest gold price recorded in Kerala this month was on January 1st, when one sovereign was priced at Rs 57,200.
Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged. The market price of one gram of hallmarked silver is Rs 99.
