CHOTTANIKKARA: The mother of the 19-year-old girl found unconscious inside her house has made more revelations. She alleged that her daughter's boyfriend from Thalayolaparambu had been continuously harassing her. The mother stated that her daughter had previously suffered injuries on her face and body due to his assaults. When questioned about these wounds, the girl had claimed she had fallen.
"Although I repeatedly advised my daughter to end the relationship, the boy continued visiting our home against our wishes. Fear of further attacks forced us to relocate. We have been living in a different place for the past month, but he managed to track my daughter's whereabouts through a relative," the mother said.
The police have charged the accused with rape and attempted murder based on the mother's complaint.
The youth from Thalayolaparambu, who has been taken into custody, has admitted to physically assaulting the girl. According to his statement to the police, the girl attempted suicide due to emotional distress following the assault. Authorities also confirmed that the accused has prior drug-related cases against him.
The 19-year-old, a survivor of a POCSO case, was found unconscious inside a house in Chottanikkara on Sunday. She was in a semi-naked state, with a rope tightened around her neck, causing injuries. A wound was also found on her hand, which had developed an infection. Currently, the girl remains in critical condition at a private hospital in Kochi.
