KANNUR: Prasanthan, owner of the petrol pump in Chengala, has demanded to subject him to a lie detector test in connection with his complaint of giving bribe to former Kannur ADM K Naveen Babu. He has written a letter to the state police chief demanding this.

He had earlier written a letter to the police chief demanding a detailed investigation into the allegations he had levelled. Prasanthan clarified that he was ready to cooperate with any investigation.

T V Prasanthan in his statement to the police said that he handed over the money to Naveen Babu at his quarters. He said that he arranged the money after pawning gold. In his complaint, Prasanthan, also an electrician at Govt Medical College, said Naveen Babu accepted the bribe to give NoC to his pump.

Former district panchayat president P P Divya had accused the ADM of corruption in his farewell function for not issuing NOC to the petrol pump. Naveen Babu committed suicide following this.

The petrol pump got NOC for the pump on October 8. Prasanthan informed the vigilance on October 10 about the bribe. On October 14, vigilance circle inspector recorded Prasanthan's statement. The farewell function was held in the evening on that day. The vigilance had submitted the report to the DySP on the same day. Naveen Babu was not aware of Prasanthan's statement. Naveen Babu was found to have committed suicide on October 15.
