WASHINGTON: A passenger flight collided with a helicopter in the United States. The American Airlines flight collided with the military helicopter while landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington.
The accident occurred around 9 pm on Wednesday. American Airlines Flight 5342 was on its way from Kansas to Washington DC.
The plane was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members at the time of the accident. Authorities said the accident occurred as it approached the Potomac River near the airport. A search is underway in the river for those missing in the accident.
There are reports that rescuers have pulled out some from the water. It is reported that there were three military personnel on board the helicopter. Authorities said that all takeoffs and landings at Ronald Reagan Airport have been temporarily suspended in the wake of the accident.|

US Senator Ted Cruz said that there were deaths in the accident. However, it is not clear how many people died. Officials added that the search is continuing near the Potomac River.
White House Press Secretary Carolyn Leavitt Fox said that US President Donald Trump had been informed of the accident. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that the situation was being monitored.
