THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The incident where a two-year-old girl from Balaramapuram went missing and later found dead in the well, is shrouded in mystery. The police said there are many contradictions in the statements of the child's family. The parents told police that the child was sleeping with her maternal uncle in his room. However, the neighbors said she was with her parents in their room.

A fire broke out in her uncle’s room just before the child went missing. The locals said the room smelt of kerosene. The police also clarified that the family had filed a false complaint of Rs 30 lakh going missing. Some tangled ropes were found in the house. The family’s relatives were in the house as there was some function related to the death of the child’s grandfather. It was at this time the child’s mother said that she is missing.

Devendu, daughter of Shreethu and Sreejith, was found dead in the well this morning. The parents filed a missing complaint with the police this morning.
