NEW DELHI: Cash and liquor were seized from a vehicle having a government sticker. The cash and liquor were recovered from the car with a Punjab government’s sticker in Delhi, where assembly elections are approaching. Police said that pamphlets of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were also recovered from the car.
Following the incident, the Punjab government responded that the car had a fake registration. The BJP then came forward strongly criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The car was parked in front of Punjab Bhawan on Copernicus Marg. Police said that during the subsequent inspection, Rs 8 lakh, liquor bottles with Punjab stamps and AAP pamphlets were recovered. According to the election rules, carrying cash of more than Rs 50,000 is prohibited. The police have registered a case in the incident.
The Punjab government said in a statement that the car is registered in the name of Major Anubhav Shivpuri. He has been posted at the Army Dental College in Pathankot. Anubhav is a native of Khadki in Maharashtra. The car's registration number is a Ford EcoSport, but the Delhi Police also seized a Hyundai Creta, which clearly indicates that the number plate is fake, the statement added.
