CHENNAI: An AIADMK leader was beaten up by women for sending obscene messages. The incident happened at Padappai near Manimangalam in Kanchipuram. The video of the incident is going viral on social media. The women beat up M Ponnambalam, a local worker of AIADMK, with a broom and shoes. He was later handed over to the police.

M Ponnambalam is the joint secretary of Kundrathur West Union MGR Association. The women work in an IT company. They were previously staying in the house of the 60-year-old man on rent. After he misbehaved and tried to sexually harass them, they shifted to another house.

However, Ponnambalam called a woman and asked her to come to his house, saying that he would return the house advance. When she went there, it is reported that Ponnambalam closed the door and behaved indecently with her.

He started harassing her again by sending obscene messages. With this, one of the women called him to her house. Then, they attacked him using brooms and shoes. One of the groups recorded the video on her mobile phone and shared it on social media.
