THRISSUR: A village officer has been arrested for accepting bribe. The vigilance team arrested Athirappilly village officer K L Jude. He hid Rs 3000 accepted as bribe in the socks of his right leg. The vigilance while examining him recovered the money from his socks.
He demanded a bribe for Record of Rights Certificate (ROR) issued before the sale of the land. The person who applied for the certificate then informed the vigilance. The person who applied for the certificate at the village office filed a complaint with the vigilance the other day. When the vigilance conducted an investigation, it became clear that there was truth in the complaint.
After informing that bribe could be paid, the village officer went with the applicant to inspect the site today. After returning to the village office after the site inspection, Jude received the bribe from the complainant. The notes smeared with phenolphthalein given by the vigilance were handed over as bribe. Meanwhile, the vigilance team arrived and arrested the village officer. The vigilance team was following him even when he was inspecting the site.
The investigation team found that Jude had previously involved in a bribery case in Kasaragod and that there were allegations of bribery against him when he worked in Mala.
