ALAPPUZHA: Four people sustained serious injuries after being bitten by a rabid dog. The incident took place at Vallikkunnam in Kayamkulam on Friday morning. Padayanivettom native Gangadharan (50), his brother Ramachandran (55), Puthuppurakkal native Harikumar and Pallimukku native Mariyamma Rajan (70) were bitten by the dog.

The stray dog bit Gangadharan, Mariyamma and Rajan on the neck and face. Ramachandran was bitten on the leg. Ramachandran was bitten when he attempted to rescue Gangadharan from the dog.

Mariyamma was attacked by the dog while trying to rescue a relative's child who was chased by the dog, Her nose, lips, and face were severely bitten and torn. The dog bit Harikumar on his stomach. Gangadharan and Ramachandran are undergoing treatment at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital, while Mariyamma is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Parumala. Harikumar is being treated at Kayamkulam Taluk Hospital.
