NEW DELHI: With less than a week remaining for the assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing a major crisis. Seven sitting MLAs have resigned after being denied tickets to contest the elections. This internal turmoil comes as a significant setback for the party just before the polls. The MLAs who have resigned are Naresh Kumar, Rohit Kumar, Rajesh Rishi, Madan Lal, Pawan Sharma, Bhavna Gaur, and Bhupinder Singh Joon.

Reports suggest that conflicts with former Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal led to their decision to quit. The MLAs had serious disagreements with the party leadership and have made strong allegations against Kejriwal, questioning his credibility.

The wave of resignations was triggered after Bhupinder Singh Joon's resignation letter became public. Soon after, the remaining six MLAs announced their departure through social media.

Just two days ago, AAP had released its fifth list of candidates for the Delhi elections. The decision to replace these MLAs with new candidates for their constituencies is what prompted them to leave the party. The state assembly elections will be held for 70 seats.
