KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that secularism is collapsing as the Congress and the Muslim League are nurturing communalism for the sake of a few votes. He was speaking after inaugurating the concluding session of the CPM Kozhikode district conference.
"In Kerala, the Muslim League is now controlled by Jamaat-e-Islami and SDPI. Despite claiming to stand for secularism, why is the League unable to openly oppose such divisive forces? The League, which should oppose both minority and majority communalism equally, remains silent. Why is that so? The Congress and UDF should analyze how the BJP won in places like Nemom and Thrissur. It was SDPI that first celebrated UDF’s victory in Palakkad, yet the Congress is commanding dignity to communalism," the CM said.
"The Congress is aligning itself with the communal policies of the BJP-led central government, The same Congress, which now claims to oppose the demolition of the Babri Masjid, also takes credit for the construction of the Ram Temple. They even claim that they were the first to call the cow ‘Gomata’. In this manner, the Congress surpasses the BJP in embracing communalism," Pinarayi added.
CPM Politburo member A Vijayaraghavan, district secretary P Mohanan, and district secretary M Mehboob also spoke at the event. The conference concluded with a Red Volunteer March that shook the city of Vadakara.
