NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman rolled out plans in her budget to turn India into a toy manufacturing hub. The minister also announced that the local toy manufacturing sector will be encouraged. Nirmala Sitharaman added that this year's budget gives priority to development.

In another announcement, the Budget promised 22 lakh jobs for the small and medium sectors in the footwear manufacturing sector. All government secondary schools and primary health centres will be ensured broadband internet with the support of BHARATNET, Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence will be established.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the core idea of Budget 2025 was the betterment of the lives of youth, farmers and women in the country.

1. Makhana Board will be established in Bihar. This will increase the production, processing, value addition and marketing of Makhana.

2. A comprehensive plan for vegetables and fruits will be introduced. The government will support initiatives targeting this trend.

3. The Finance Minister announced that the government will launch a six-year mission to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses.

4. Greater focus on taxation, power, urban development, mining, financial sector and regulatory reforms.
