NEW DELHI: Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh scoffed at the union budget 2025 for mollycoddling Bihar while completely neglecting NDA ally Andhra Pradesh. Jairam Ramesh's taunt came after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's 77-minute budget speech on Saturday.
“Bihar is ruled by the Janata Dal (United), which is part of the NDA front, while Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party rules Andhra. By the end of this year, Bihar will see fresh elections. so they have been offered a Bonanza while Andhra Pradesh, another pillar of NDA, got neglected so cruelly.
Stagnant wages, lack of consumption growth, slow rate of private investment and the complex GST (Goods and Services Tax) are toiling the economy of the country. There is no remedy for the above problem in this budget. There is a relief only for income taxpayers. What effect this will have on the economy should be seen." wrote Jairam Ramesh on X.
“I am clueless, is this the Indian government's budget, or the Bihar government's? Manish Tewari taunted that only one state was heard in the Finance Minister's budget speech.
