NEW DELHI: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party faced significant backlash just as a few days remain from the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly election. Eight MLAs who didn't get a seat to contest for this time, have joined BJP. They retired from AAP yesterday. The MLAs who resigned and joined BJP are Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), Rohit Kumar (Trilokpuri), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar), Bhawna Goud (Palam), Girish Soni (Madipur) and BS Joon (Bijwasan).

Those who left AAP sent their resignation letters to Arvind Kejriwal and Legislative Assembly speaker. Although Naresh Yadav initially got a sitting seat, it was later revoked by the party after he was convicted in a criminal case. Instead of Naresh, the party gave the position to Mahendar Chaudhary in Mehrauli constituency. Bhawna Goud, who represented the Palam constituency stated that she lost her trust in Arvind Kejriwal. The party has sunken in the mire of corruption, Naresh Yadav's resignation letter reads.
