MALAPPURAM: Prabhin, husband of the woman, who was found hanging in her in-laws' house in Elankur, has been taken into custody. The dead is Vishnuja of Pookkottumpadam. The Manjeri police had registered a case of unnatural death in the incident.

Prabhin was taken into custody from his house in Manjeri. His arrest is likely to be registered in the afternoon. Sections of domestic violence and abetment to suicide may be charged. The police have also received evidence for harassing her.

Meantime, Prabhin's family said that they have not demanded or received any dowry. There were differences of opinion between Prabhin and Vishnuja. She was not beaten at home. Prabhin's family also said that they have no role in her death. The woman's family blamed her in-laws for their daughter’s death. The police are also investigating this.

Vishnuja and Prabhin got married in May 2023. Prabhin is a staff nurse at Manjeri Medical College. The woman's family alleged that Prabhin constantly harassed her saying that she has no job, that she is not beautiful and that the dowry given was less. Prabhin had illicit affairs with women. Vishnuja's parents said that every time they tried to intervene in the issue, she prevented them saying she would solve it herself. Vishnuja was found hanging last Thursday at the house of Prabhin of Elankur.
