KUALA LAMPUR: India retained the U19 Women's T20 World Cup title. India defeated South Africa by nine wickets in the final to win the world title. Chasing a small target of 83 for victory set by South Africa at the J B Marks Oval in Kuala Lumpur, India chased down the target in 11.2 overs with the loss of just one wicket. Trisha Gongadi (44) and Sanika Chalke (26) led India to victory.


Kamalini (8) returned after scoring 36 runs in the first wicket partnership for India. However, the loss of the first wicket did not affect India's victory. Trisha and Chalke put on 48 runs to lead the team to victory. Trisha's innings included eight boundaries. Chalke hit four boundaries.


Earlier, the young South Africans, who had won the toss, elected to bat. India tied South Africa on the strength of their spinners. Trisha took three wickets for 15 runs in four overs. Ayushi Shukla took two wickets for just nine runs in four overs, including two maidens.


Parunika Sisodia took two wickets for just six runs in four overs. Mieke van Voost was the top scorer for South Africa with 23 runs. Gemma Botha was dismissed for 16 runs off the last ball of the fourth over. Faye Cowling also scored 15 runs.
