NEW DELHI: Three people have been arrested for inviting youngsters through a gay dating app for sex and later extorting their money through blackmail. Police arrested Rinku, Ajay and Shubham who are all residents of Ghaziabad. Two are on the run. Grindr, a gay dating app, was used to commit this crime.

They used the app to build friendship with people, and then invited them to a flat for having sexual intercourse and filmed it. They extorted money from the victims using the video to blackmail them. Following this pattern, the five-member team invited a youngster to their flat. Afterwards they used the video to blackmail him and extorted 1.40 lakhs from him. The youngster reported to the police later.

Police says that Rinku was the leader of this scheme. Ajay invited the victim to the flat. The investigation team found three id cards from Rinku. They are checking whether they are fake. Three mobile phones and Rs. 10,00 have been confiscated from the flat. They bought the flat on lease on Janurary 2nd. Assistant Police Commissioner Swathantra Singh Kumar said that the culprits confessed to doing similar crimes in the past.
