KANNUR: CPM District Secretary MV Jayarajan said that the reason for the death of ADM Naveen Babu was the remark made by PP Divya. Jayarajan made this clear at a press conference held in conjunction with the CPM Kannur district conference.

"It is true that the last remark made by Divya in her speech is what led to the death of ADM. That is why the party said it was wrong. That is the view of the party then and now," Jayarajan said. The organizational action taken against PP Divya in the incident was explained in the district conference's work report. The report also pointed out that PP Divya's action was unjustifiable. In the discussion held on the organizational report, representatives spoke in favour of and against Divya. The representatives had accused the action taken against Divya creating a feeling that the party had succumbed to media scrutiny and of putting unnecessary pressure on the Pathanamthitta district committee.
