THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister of State Suresh Gopi has drawn flak from all sides for his casteist remarks. Dalit activist Sunny M Kapicad criticized Minister of State Suresh Gopi for his remarks. The minister had yesterday said that the upper castes should lead the tribal affairs department. The activist asked whether Suresh Gopi doesn’t know that there are no separate departments or portfolios for upper castes. While talking to a private channel, he said whether the union minister who does not know this is a fool.
‘This should be discussed as an issue of Suresh Gopi's personal decline. Suresh Gopi is only a propagandist of the politics and philosophy that are gaining strength all over India. One thing he said is that he uses the word upper caste to make the administration of the tribal department easier. He then said that it was with good intentions.
What this Union Minister Suresh Gopi needs to understand is not what his intention is. The issue here is that India is a democratic country. There are no upper castes or lower castes here. There are citizens with equal rights here. The question is whether Suresh Gopi, as a union minister, accepts the concept of a nation of equal citizens envisaged by the Indian Constitution or not.
Suresh Gopi does not accept it, but he thinks that there are still upper castes here. He says that these upper castes should come and look after the affairs of the tribals. Suresh Gopi has been asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for years to give him the tribal department. He is doing this on his own because he thinks that he is of a higher caste than the tribals. It is not such liberals who should find a solution to the problems of the tribals. The Indian Constitution has created a system here to solve the problems of the tribals.
Is there a department for the upper castes in India. What a fool he is. He said such a stupid thing that you should not know that the Indian Government does not have special departments or departments for the upper castes or the lower castes. These words are prohibited by the Indian Constitution. It is clearly stated in the Indian Constitution that such words should not be used.
