KAKKANAD: The Global Public School in Thiruvaniyoor yet again denied allegations of ragging in the suicide of one of their students. Two weeks back, Mihir, a ninth-standard student from Global School, jumped from the 26th floor of his apartment to death, as a result of alleged ragging from his classmates.

According to school officials and teachers, no evidence of ragging was found in the case and they also stated it was impossible to take action against accused students. This statement was included in the letter sent to the parents by the school authorities.

The school authorities also stated that the mother filed a complaint only after the student committed suicide. After receiving the complaint, students and teachers were inquired about the matter. However, no evidence has been found to substantiate the complaint. The complaint from Mihir's mother included the names of the students mentioned in the Instagram post. The authorities also requested Mihir’s parents to consider the age and future of the accused students before demanding action based on mere allegations.

At the same time, Director of Public Education S. Shanavas informed of the possibility of charging POCSO in the incident. He was speaking to the media during a statement held at the office of the Deputy Director of Public Education at the Collectorate.

Statements were taken from the parents of the child, the authorities of GEMS School, where Mihir had previously studied, and the authorities of Global School. He said that Kakkanad GEMS International School and Thiruvaniyoor Global Public School have not submitted the NOC certificate. If the certificate is not submitted, the report will be submitted within three days recommending further action. It will be examined in detail whether the child was subjected to the abuse mentioned in the mother's allegations.

It was found that Mihir was earlier suspended from GEMS school. When he came back from suspension, the authorities made Mihir write the exam in a separate room. The Vice Principal of GEMS International School was suspended yesterday because of these allegations.
