NEW DELHI: The single-phase Delhi Assembly elections are approaching their final lap, with 46.55 percent polling recorded so far. Voting will continue till 6 pm. The counting of votes will be held on Saturday. More than 1.56 crore voters will decide the fate of the candidates in the elections being held in 70 assembly constituencies. A total of 13,766 polling stations have been set up.

The highest polling was recorded in Mustafabad. The polling rate in the region is 56.12 percent. Seelampur is next with 54.29 percent. The Delhi Cantonment seat recorded 45.90 percent polling.

699 candidates are in the fray. While the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress have fielded 70 candidates each, BJP has fielded 68. The term of the seventh Delhi Assembly ends on February 15. The Aam Aadmi Party is preparing to come to power for the third consecutive term. The rivals BJP and Congress are showing a strong fight. Delhi recorded a voter turnout of 62.59 per cent in the 2020 assembly elections.

The Aam Aadmi Party is predicted to have an advantage in Phalodi Satta Bazaar in Rajasthan. The AAP is predicted to win 37 to 39 seats out of the total 70. Voter survey says that the BJP may win 31 to 33 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party will get more than 51 per cent of the votes.
