THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There was a murder attempt on a woman in broad daylight at Venpakal in Neyyattinkara. Her lover tried to murder her.

28-year-old Surya Gayathri of Venpakal, was seriously injured in the attack by Sachu of Kodangavila. He barged into her house at noon today and tried to hack her to death.

Although Sachu is married, he was estranged from his wife for a long time. It was during this time that he became close to Surya. The two had reportedly decided to get married. However, Sachu recently suspected that Surya Gayathri was trying to marry someone else. The police are indicating that this is the reason for the attack.

Soon after the incident, Sachu himself took Surya to the hospital. The injuries are serious. The police have launched an investigation into Sachu, who escaped after taking her to the hospital.
