LUCKNOW: There have been numerous cases where people meet online, develop a romantic relationship without ever meeting in person, and sometimes, those relationships end in trouble. A similar predicament has befallen Badal Babu, a young man from Uttar Pradesh.
The 20-year-old Badal Babu fell in love with Sana Rani, a Pakistani woman, after chatting online for two years. As their bond grew stronger, he decided to travel to Pakistan to be with her.
Badal crossed into Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border. In his attempt to win Sana's heart, he even converted to Islam and adopted the name Rehan. However, his dreams were shattered when Sana rejected his marriage proposal.
Following the rejection, Badal started working as a shepherd near Sana's house. Pakistani authorities later discovered that he had entered the country without proper documentation, leading to his arrest on December 27, 2024. His lawyer in Lahore argued that he fears returning to India due to his religious conversion.
Meanwhile, Sana and her mother had initially invited Badal to Pakistan, but once they realized his true intentions, they distanced themselves from him, said his employer, Hasi Khan Asgar. Recently, Badal contacted his family. The next court hearing in his case is scheduled for the end of this month.
