bribe

KOLLAM: Vigilance officials today arrested Kollam Taluk Surveyor Anil Kumar while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 for conducting a land survey.
The complainant, a native of Anchal, Kollam, had applied in December last year to measure and demarcate a 2.5-cent plot in Mulavana, registered under his wife's name. Despite several visits to the taluk office and repeated requests, Anil Kumar kept delaying the process.

When the complainant met him again on January 15, the surveyor demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 to proceed with the land survey. Following this, the complainant reported the matter to the Kollam Vigilance Unit Deputy Superintendent of Police. A vigilance team then devised a plan and closely monitored the surveyor’s activities. Today, at around 11:30 AM, after completing the land survey, Anil Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at the site. The vigilance team arrested him on the spot, and he will be produced before the Vigilance Court in Thiruvananthapuram.
