Punjabi athlete Niharika Vashisht won gold in the women's triple jump at the National Games yesterday, surpassing Kerala players. She made this comeback after being banned for two years by the Athletics Federation of India for doping. Niharika failed the test conducted by National Anti Doping Agency in 2020. After a two-year ban, she returned to the jumping pit in 2022.
Niharika delivered her best performance in her comeback after the ban was seen in Dehradun on Monday. The 29-year-old jumped 13.37 meters and won gold in the women's triple jump at the National Games in Uttarakhand.
Niharika's best performance during the 2022-24 period was 13.07 meters. An improvement of about 30 centimetres. Meanwhile, Kerala player N.V. Sheena, who once jumped 13.60 meters, could only jump 13.19 meters in the cold weather here.
