CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu to grant land titles to those permanently residing on unobjectionable alienated lands in the ‘belt areas’ of Chennai and surrounding districts.
The decision was taken by a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. This has solved the land issue that has been going on for 63 years. 86,000 people living on non-disputed land outside the city may get land titles. In Chennai city alone, 29,100 people are on land belonging to this category.
Stalin said that a solution to the long-standing demand of the poor has happened with this. He said that his government is working for all sections of people and that the land titles will be made available within six months. He said that since he came to power, the DMK has granted more than 12.29 lakh land titles to people. Revenue Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran said that this is a historic decision.
The cabinet approved investment proposals worth Rs 7,375 crore. Five companies will start their projects in Tamil Nadu. The government hopes that this will create employment opportunities for about 19,300 people. These projects will be launched in Perambalur, Thoothukudi, Trichy and Vellore districts.
Stalin with a public outreach program
M.K. Stalin is presently conducting a public outreach program. The first public outreach program was in Villupuram, where Vijay's TVK held its first meeting. It was to counter Vijay's progress. He also reached out to the people in Villupuram. After the Union Budget, he is speaking in district centers strongly criticizing the BJP.
The Chief Minister, who was in Erode yesterday, will reach Cuddalore today. Stalin is speaking everywhere that Tamil Nadu has been ignored in the Union Budget. He is also accusing Governor R.N. Ravi of not doing his duty.
