PATHANAMTHITTA: The KAAPA case accused, received to the party by leaders including Health Minister Veena George, has been deported from Pathanamthitta. DYFI Malayalapuzha area committee vice president Sharan Chandran was deported for a year.
The district police chief issued an order deporting him for a year from February 7. Sharan, left the BJP and joined CPM in last July. Veena George welcomed Sharan with a garland at a programme held in Kumbazha that day.
The then district secretary Udayabhanu and others attended the function. Sharan, accused in several criminal cases, joined the CPM a week after being released from jail. The CPM's stance is that there is nothing wrong with reforming oneself and joining the party despite having a criminal background. Sixty people joined the CPM from the BJP that day.
After joining the CPM, he celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake near the Malayalapuzha police station. A fugitive was also present at the celebration. Police said he was also involved in a case recently.
