38th-national-games

Kerala finished in 14th place at the National Games taking place in Uttarakhand, marking the state's worst performance in the history of the event. The team secured only 54 medals, which included 13 gold, 17 silver, and 24 bronze. During the last Games held in Goa, Kerala achieved fifth place with a total of 87 medals, comprising 36 gold, 24 silver, and 27 bronze.

This is the first time Kerala has fallen out of the top ten in the National Games. This year, Kalaripayattu was designated as an exhibition event, and several senior athletes, particularly in athletics, opted not to compete for Kerala, which negatively impacted the team's performance. On February 13, the final day of competitions, Kerala managed to win just one bronze medal in canoeing and kayaking. The Services team emerged as champions with a total of 121 medals, including 68 gold. The closing ceremony is scheduled to take place in Haldwani on February 14.
