KAZHAKKOOTTAM: Kazhakoottam police have registered a case against both groups on a complaint that senior students beat up junior students at Karyavattom Govt. College. They are investigating in detail whether ragging took place in the incident.
The case is that first-year biotechnology student Bins Jose and biochemistry student Abhishek were beaten up for not respecting senior students. However, the senior students also filed a complaint alleging that they were beaten up.
Based on the complaint of both, Kazhakoottam police have registered a case against nine people. The first case was registered against senior students Alan, Anandan, Velu, Salman, Shravan, Parthan, and Emmanuel.
Meanwhile, Kazhakoottam police have also registered a case against junior students Abhishek and Pradeep on a complaint filed by senior student Alan alleging that junior students had beaten them. No one has been taken into custody in the incident.
The junior students who were beaten up have also filed a complaint with the college principal, alleging that they were subjected to ragging. Abhishek has reported that two days ago, while he and Bins were washing our hands after eating, the third-year senior students came. They accused them of disrespecting them and took them to the union office on the campus, forcibly tore their shirts, and beat them up, according to Abhishek.
During the initial investigation, it was found that there was an argument and beating between the two groups, and Principal Sandhya said that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine whether ragging took place. Further action will be taken after that.
