THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The organs of the teacher who died of brain haemorrhage will give a new lease of life to four people. The organs of R. Rajesh (52), a teacher at Amrita HSS Parippally, were donated to four people undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Kerala. Two kidneys and two corneas were donated. One kidney was given to the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College and the other to KIMS Hospital. The cornea was given to the Thiruvananthapuram Regional Institute of Ophthalmology. Minister Veena George thanked the family for their willingness to donate organs despite their deep grief. The minister also said that she shares the grief of the family.
R Rajesh, a native of Varkala, Thiruvananthapuram, was admitted to a private hospital on February 8 due to a brain haemorrhage. He was declared brain-dead on February 13. His wife Sangeetha and sons Harishanth and Sivashanth then gave their consent, paving the way for organ donation.
The organ donation process and the procedure of finding recipients were carried out under the leadership of the government's organ donation scheme, Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (K-SOTTO). Rajesh's funeral will be held on February 15 at his home in Varkala.
