KOTTAYAM: Omissions have been found in the FIR about the brutalities of ragging that happened in the Kottayam Government Nursing College to save the leaders of the pro-CPM organization who were involved in the crime. It does not mention anything that is seen in the video footage.
The things that were omitted were making the victim half-naked, placing dumbbells one above the other on his genital area, stabbing him with a divider, and the accused laughing at him after tightening and pulling a clip at two places on his chest.
The junior student was tied to a bed and brutally beaten on the night of December 13, 2024. The FIR incorrectly mentions the date as the night of December 13, 2014.
FIR:
On 13-12-2014 at 11.45 pm, the first, second, fourth and fifth accused came to the complainant's room and told him to lie on the bed afterwhich they tied his hands and legs with a towel. They poured lotion all over his body. They stabbed him with a divider and hurt him. They made his friends take a video.
One day in January 2025, the first and third accused separated the complainant and told him that everyone should give money to the first accused. When he said that he could not give it, he asked him to go to the first accused's room at night. In that room, all the five accused threatened him. On 10-2-2025 at 10 pm, Amal, a friend who lives in the next room, was called to the room of the accused and made him kneel on the floor. After that, the third accused slapped him on the cheek and hurt him.
Second accused is SFI former Local Secretary
The second accused in this case, K.P.Rahul Raj, was former SFI Local Secretary of Vandoor, Malappuram. Although he was the State General Secretary of Kerala Government Student Nurses Association (KGSNA), he was expelled from the organization after the incident.
SFI State Secretary PM Arsho said that there are attempts being made to falsely associate the culprits with SFI. Do not blame SFI for the actions of these criminals, he added. SFI conducted a march yesterday demanding that the accused be removed from the college.
