KOCHI: Film Exhibitors Federation chairman and producer Liberty Basheer denounced the unilateral decision by the producers' association to not screen films from June 1. Although agreeing to Producer Suresh Kumar’s confession about the ordeal faced by producers, Liberty Basher said he would not accept the decision for a strike without calling the general body of the producers' association.
Liberty Basheer was commenting about the late bitter feud between Producer Antony Perumbavoor and Suresh Kumar.
Liberty Basheer:
"What G Suresh Kumar said is correct but such a decision should not have been taken without calling the General Body. I agree 100% with what Suresh Kumar said, but he made some flaws. Antony Perumbavoor is currently the most successful producer in Malayalam film industry. Turning against Antony would be a stupid move because he has tight hold of a hot property — Mohanlal.
Antony is a producer who always tries to release movies in theatres. Suresh Kumar made a mistake in not calling a general body meeting. The current problem within the industry can be sorted out through amicable talks."
Recently Anonty Perumbavoor came up against Suresh Kumar over the latter’s decision announcing a strike within the movie industry. Actors Prithviraj, Aju Varghese and Unni Mukundan came in support for Antony will Mohanlal in a show of tacit support to Antony, commented “Let us always stay with cinema”.
