The producers’ association recently came against the high remuneration demanded by actors in the Malayalam industry. Things have not been merrier between the producer’s association and actors since then. The association has issued a threat to stop screening movies from June 1 if the dispute remains unsolved. G Suresh Kumar, who is at the helm of the producers’ association made some no-holds-barred criticism of the industry which received brickbats and adulation alike. In a recent interview with a television channel, Suresh Kumar opened up about how actor Dhyan Sreenivasan demands remuneration for a movie. This is now being discussed in the public domain.

Suresh Kumar:

“Dhyan is considerate to the producer of his movies. He would not demand mammoth remuneration for a movie and would act according to the producers' needs. He thus makes sure that the producer of his movie doesn’t suffer a terrible loss. Don’t youngsters need to imbibe such a commitment?

Most of the actors these days are self-centred. I don’t know the reason for their crazy lust for money. There are also technicians working in this field. Don’t they also need to be paid a decent sum? Not just their remuneration, actors are also demanding overseas rights for the movie. In an ideal case, it should be the producer who should have those rights. Just imagine the worst-case scenario of the movie bombing at the box office and the producer bereft of even the overseas rights.

Even the government are not aware of the real collection numbers in movies. Very soon, we are starting a YouTube channel and the total collection report will be published there.”

Suresh Kumar also praised actor Tovino Thomas for being genial to his producers and taking remuneration after understanding the situation of the producer.
