THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Father of the student subjected to ragging at Karyavattom Government College said that he will go forward strongly with the complaint. He said that his son was locked up in a room and thrashed for an hour. The senior students threatened to attack him again and kill him. Jose, the student’s father expressed concern that would have done if something had happened to my son when he was locked up.
'What would have done if something had happened to my son like what had happened to Siddharth. This should not happen to anyone again. The same thing will happen tomorrow also. Will strongly go forward with the complaint,' said Jose. Bins Jose, a first-year student of biotechnology, was subjected to ragging. Bins had earlier filed a complaint with the Kazhakoottam police in the incident. The Anti-Ragging Committee, which conducted an investigation, confirmed that ragging had taken place. The complaint is against seven third-year undergraduate students. The CCTV visuals and witness statements had confirmed ragging.
There was a fight between senior and junior students on February 11. Bins Jose and his friend Abhishek sustained injuries after attacked by senior students. The Kazhakoottam police registered a case on the complaint of both groups.
The complaint is that the senior students who came in search of Abhishek caught Bins, took him to the unit room and attacked him. They tore his shirt, made him stand on his knees and beat him. Bins fell on the floor and was beaten again. Bins also said that when he asked for water, they spat on the water and gave him that.
Bins then filed a complaint with the Kazhakoottam police and the principal. The complaint is that seven senior students including Velu, Prince, Ananthan, Parthan, Alan, Shravan and Salman ragged him. The principal reported to the Kazhakoottam police yesterday on the findings of the committee. The Kazhakoottam police have informed that a case will be filed for ragging based on the principal's report.
