THIRUVALLA: More details are out in the odd incident of a youngster trying to hijack a KSRTC bus from Thiruvalla. Anjilithanam native Jebin (34) was arrested by police in the case. The accused in a drunk state, tried to hijack the bus which was stopped at Thiruvalla bus depot.

Jebin told police the reason for deciding to flee with the bus and it is nothing short of weird. According to the accused, the last bus to his native place had gone and he was left with insufficient money to hire an auto rickshaw. This made him go for the odd choice of taking control of a KSRTC bus to drive home. Jebin was accompanied by his friends.

"The bus, which was supposed to leave at 5.45 in the morning, got delayed and was still at the depot at 10 pm. I asked several people for help but to no avail," said Jebin. After the cleaners left after washing the bus, Jebin crept inside and saw the key placed on the ignition switch. He took the driver's seat and started the vehicle. Alarmed by the sound of the vehicle starting, the workers rushed to the spot and confronted Jebin. By this time, all of Jebin’s friends had fled.

It took great effort from the employees to bring Jebin down from the bus. A police team led by Thiruvalla DYSP Ashad and CI VK Sunil Krishnan took Jeb into custody. According to police, Jebin is a history sheeter formerly involved in petty crimes. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
