VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis' health condition has become more complicated. The Vatican announced that pneumonia (double pneumonia) has affected his lungs. The 88-year-old Pope has been in the hospital for five days for treatment and examinations.

Doctors said that the Pope is continuing with antibiotic treatment. All of his official engagements for this week have been cancelled. The doctors stated that it was a slightly complicated infection and that a longer hospital stay would be required. The public event scheduled for Saturday has also been cancelled. On Sunday, a senior cardinal will officiate the Mass in place of the Pope.

During his early twenties, a part of the Pope's lung was removed while he was undergoing priestly studies in his native Argentina.
